LIP BLUSH FAQ

What is Lip Blush?

  • Lip Blush is a permanent makeup service, similar to ombre powder brows, where we use a sterilized needle(s), a tattoo pen/rotary machine, and pigments to deposit color into the dermal layer of the skin. Lip Blush can heal to a soft, natural sheer, or a more saturated, lipstick look, depending on the technique (lip glo, lip jelly, aquarelle lips, etc).

How are the colors chosen?

  • Colors are chosen based off 3 key factors. One being the natural undertones of the clients lip, two being the natural skin undertones, and lastly, client’s personal preference. The most important thing to remember about lip blush is that patience is key. Majority of the population have hyperpigmentation on their lips, ranging from mild to severe, to melanin rich.. It is important for us to know proper color theory to target specific client’s needs. A follow up touch up is required for all new lip blush appointments, and 3 for severe hyperpigmentation lips and melanin rich.

How long do the lips take to heal?

  • Lips generally take about a week to heal, and a full 6-8 weeks (depending on severity of hyperpigmentation), for the true color to blossom. 6 weeks is the average time for mild hyperpigmentation, whereas lips with severe hyperpigmentation or melanin rich can take anywhere between 8-12 weeks for the true color to blossom.

Will my lips look swollen or scabby for a week?

  • Swelling should only last 24-48 hours. 48 hours is usually only when you bruise/swell/bleed easily.

  • You should NOT see any scabbing during healing. If you do, that is a clear indication that proper pre care was not followed. Lymphatic fluids are the body’s reaction to stress and pain. When the lips are being tattooed, it causes pain and stress to the body, resulting in lymph fluids. After your appointment, the lymph fluids will continue to appear on the surface of your lips, which then results in SCABBING. To avoid this, you must dab the lips with the provided sterile water wipes to prevent this from happening.

  • You should see more of a FLAKING. It will look almost as if you hadn’t exfoliated your lips in weeks. This is what you SHOULD see. Flaking time varies from client to client but average is about a week.

Does it hurt?

  • Everybody has a different pain tolerance, but, asking all my clients to rate the pain on a scale of 1-10, the average answer is a 5.

  • I use 2 different types of topical numbing which includes lidocaine and epinephrine which will help reduce pain if you have a low pain tolerance.

How often do I need to come in for a touch-up?

  • After your required touch up, you would come see me again for an annual color refresher, however this is optional. If you think the color is to your liking, another touch up is not necessary.

  • Please understand that lips cannot be tattooed until a full 6 weeks have gone by. This is to prevent over-traumatizing the lip.

Can I get lip fillers after lip blush? (vise versa)

  • Yes! They are the perfect duo! However, you must wait a full 4 weeks before proceeding to book for lip fillers after getting lip blush done, and vise versa. This is to prevent over-traumatizing the lip.

OMBRE BROWS FAQ

What is ombre powder brows?

  • Ombre brows is a popular and universal permanent makeup technique. Suitable for all skin types and ages. The brows will start off soft and gradient at the front of the brows, and gradually gets darker towards the tails, results in a filled in makeup look. This service caters to all ages because the shape is personalized to frame your face, and the saturation can be as soft or bold as you like. A sterile single needle and a permanent makeup tattoo pen is used to deposit pixelated droplets of pigment onto the dermal layer of the skin.

How is the color chosen?

  • Colors are based off clients skin undertones and natural hair color. The color can be adjusted to be lighter or darker, depending on client'‘s preference.

How long do the brows take to heal?

  • Brows should take about 6-8 weeks to heal. I find that most of my clients will see the true color of the brows around the 8th week.

  • Brows will go through a patchy phase, however, it is important to not pick off any of the light scabbing. This will result in patchy healed results.

Does it hurt?

  • Pain is very minimal and majority of my clients fall asleep. I also use topical numbing which includes lidocaine and epinephrine to help with any discomfort.
